To preserve and share local history through hands-on experiences, events, and community involvement.

Preserving History in Leduc County

In 1990, a group of dedicated local volunteers came together with a shared vision: to preserve the stories, tools, and way of life of the pioneers who shaped the Leduc region. What began as a grassroots effort to collect and restore historical artifacts quickly grew into something much more meaningful.

In 1992, the Leduc West Antique Society acquired 80 acres of land west of Leduc, Alberta. At the time, the property was largely undeveloped, but through years of commitment and community effort, it was transformed into a unique outdoor heritage site.

Today, that land is home to Leduc West History Park—a place where history is preserved, shared, and experienced.

A Living History Experience

Leduc West History Park is dedicated to collecting, restoring, and preserving artifacts that reflect life in rural Alberta from the late 1800s through the 20th century.

Visitors can explore:

  • Historic buildings and structures

  • Vintage equipment and machinery

  • Interactive demonstrations and exhibits

  • Seasonal events and community gatherings

Our goal is to create a living history experience in Leduc County, where guests can step into the past and gain a deeper understanding of the people and practices that shaped our communities.

Leduc West History Park has always been—and continues to be—a community-driven organization.

Volunteers, donors, and supporters have played a vital role in:

  • Restoring historic buildings

  • Preserving agricultural and mechanical heritage

  • Hosting events and educational experiences

  • Maintaining and growing the park

This shared effort has created a space that brings people together while honouring the past.

A New Chapter: Leduc West History Park

In 2026, the organization entered a new chapter with a refreshed identity: Leduc West History Park.

This rebrand reflects a renewed focus on:

  • Positioning the park as a top heritage destination near Edmonton

  • Expanding family-friendly events and experiences

  • Enhancing interactive and educational programming

  • Inviting new generations to connect with local history

While the name has evolved, the mission remains the same—to preserve and share the rich heritage of the Leduc region.
